  • 99.9% uptime SLA with automatic service credits

  • Quarterly architecture review — engineers read your schema, queries, and traces

Storage, in plain language

What's included

Every database includes 1 GB of combined storage — your tables, the materialized views Gold Lapel created on your behalf, our auto-created indexes, and the on-disk L2 cache, all rolled together.

How to grow

Add storage at $1/GB/mo, customer-chosen quantity. Adjust any time from your billing portal.

Auto-overage

When you cross a cap, we charge $1 for one more GB and your service continues. Toggle it off and you'll fall back to Bellhop mode — passthrough, no optimization, but your queries keep working.

What never costs extra

Queries, mesh peers, accessory API calls, dashboard opens. None of these are metered. Storage is the only billed axis.

Common questions

What does “Complimentary” mean?

During public preview, the services we’ve already built — Caching, Search, Documents — are functional and free. They start charging at general availability, at the rates shown. The activation toggle is a real toggle: turn it on now, use it now, the bill stays at your tier base until GA.

What does “In Preparation” mean?

A service we’ve scoped and priced but haven’t shipped yet. You can toggle it on to plan ahead, and you’ll see what it adds to your at-GA total. Nothing actually charges or ships until we ship the integration.

Why no free forever tier?

A 14-day trial is the only path to using Gold Lapel without paying. Free customers consume support time we can’t afford to subsidize at this stage. The trial is full-featured Esquire — it’s enough to know if Gold Lapel earns its keep.

What’s the difference between Esquire and Noble?

Esquire is à la carte: pay the tier base, activate services as you need them. Noble is everything-included: one price covers every service, plus chat support, single sign-on (SAML / OIDC), and the compliance package (SOC 2 Type II report on request, DPA template, signed MSA terms, audit-log streaming). The crossover is around two services — if you need more than one, Noble is usually cheaper.

When does The Manor open?

When the managed-hosting infrastructure is built. The pricing is locked in ($99/db Esquire Manor, $299/db Noble Manor) and the SKUs exist; the customer-facing product launches when we can actually run Postgres for you. Until then, The Road is the path.

What happens at the storage cap?

Two paths. With auto-overage on (default), we charge $1 for an additional GB and service continues seamlessly. With auto-overage off, the proxy enters Bellhop — pure passthrough, no rewrites, no caches — until you buy more storage. Either way, no credit accumulates and we tell you why before degrading service.

SAML and SSO?

Functional at every tier, including the trial. Noble bundles them with chat support and the compliance package.

Custom enterprise pricing?

For deployments larger than the configurator handles — Noble Growth from $4,000/mo, Noble Scale from $8,000/mo — we’ll quote you directly. Email thewaiter@goldlapel.com.
